For cleaning of wooden surfaces, advantageously use a detergent, or mild pH neutral detergent and lukewarm water in a well wrung cloth. Then wipe off with clean water and wipe dry.
To preserve the look and finish you should be aware not to use:
– Alkaline or aggressive cleaners,
– Solvent
– Preparations containing abrasives,
– Abrasive tools.
Remember not to let the cleaners or other liquids on the surface for long. For furniture and surfaces for use in public spaces, it is also important to remember not to use disinfectants that contain a high concentration of alcohol or alkaline substances, such as 70% alcohol. There are disinfectants that can be advantageously used, but that does not affect the painted / varnished surface appreciably. Note that freshly painted surfaces are susceptible to scratching. Surface final resistance is only achieved after about a month. Tape and other foreign substances such as, for example, adhesive and moisturizers can soften the treated surface and cause peeling /paint drop.

“There are many versions of the shell chair already, but for a new version to feel meaningful, it needs to improve or add something new. I saw the potential in combining layer glued wood with solid wood. That idea has been with me for 23 years, but it has taken different forms over the years. In the end, I felt like I had explored all possibilities, any further change would impair the shape or its function. That’s when I realized we were ready to start developing Serif for production”

About the collection
The inspiration behind the Serif series came to Chris Martin already in the late nineties. The idea was to challenge the restrictive typology that otherwise characterizes one of our most traditional furniture typologies – the shell chair.
“It was a fun challenge to try to give something new to a piece of furniture that has hundreds of variants. Everyone only thinks of plywood when you see a shell chair, and it is a material that has fallen further down the hierarchy than solid wood that has a different feel. This thought has been with me for twenty years. So why not add a detail of wood to the shell chair and even better, why not make it a functional detail ”says Chris Martin.
Massproductions’ new chair has a seat of layered glued wood to which a solid wooden element, in oak or beech, is added to provide warmth and tactility. The detail also allows for functional handling, as shell chairs otherwise often slip out of the hand when lifted.
